Peace Or Great Peace

Romans 5:1: Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Psalms 119:165: Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

Peace with God is always great peace, but it is greater peace for believers who love the Bible.

Some of the definitions of that word great are worth knowing: abundant in quantity, size, age, number, rank, quality; in abundance; enough, exceedingly, full, great, long enough, manifold things, manifold time, mighty, more, too much, very much, oftentimes, plenteous.

That phrase nothing shall offend them is worth some attention also. In particular the definitions of the word offend. It means a stumbling-block, literally or figuratively, an obstacle, an enticement, specifically an idol, cause to fall, to ruin.

For believers who love the Bible, nothing can be an obstacle between them and God or them and peace. Loving the Bible is what puts believers at peace. Have you noticed the difference between believers that are often troubled and those that seem always to be at peace? The ones that are at peace love the Bible.

Job 23:12b: . . . I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.
